TEMPLES OF TRANSFORMATION

This is a collection of experiences, thoughts and feelings that have accumulated
over the years as I traveled throughout Asia and other parts of the world. Some
have previously been published in philosophical and theosophical journals both in
India and the United States and they cover a period of approximately thirty
years. They are essays as well as memoir, disparate recollections, observations,
confessions and autobiography.
It is a book written for my children, a travel book on both an inward and outward
journey, for early in life I realized there was something else going on beyond the
flux of phenomena that we call everyday reality, that there was an unseen world
that could not be apprehended by the senses. And the idea that there were layers
upon layers of mind that held unimaginable treasure waiting to be discovered by
me was overwhelming. At the dawning of my consciousness the search for that
other reality began, and though I could not put it into words at the time, something
down deep told me that that was what life was all about; a quest for truth,
understanding and completion, an exploration into the inner recesses of mind and
heart that would continue throughout life until the very end.
Each experience, each country and culture, each deep feeling and thought has a
transforming effect on our lives. Each time we step off the plane, train, boat or
donkey, we enter a new and exciting temple of learning where we will be faced
with new challenges, and endlessly fascinating things to learn about who we are,
why we’re here, and where we’re going.
May all our journeys be temples of transformation that will lead us to ever higher
mountaintops of understanding, clarity and evolution so we may one day fly with
the gods and take our rightful place in the pantheon of celestial beings.
